Welcome to A New Hope Cumbria CIC
A New Hope, Cumbria C.I.C is a community organisation supporting children, young people and families across Workington and West Cumbria.
Our aim is to provide safe, welcoming and affordable opportunities that help reduce isolation, improve wellbeing and create a stronger sense of community. We want children and young people to feel accepted, supported and able to be themselves while building confidence, friendships and new skills.
We currently deliver a range of children and young people’s provisions for ages 4–18, including:
- Youth Groups
- Crafty Kids Corner
- Kids BSL Club
- Holiday Provision
- Community Engagement Projects
- Walking and wellbeing activities
Our sessions are inclusive, accessible and designed to support children and young people who may struggle with confidence, friendships, bullying, neurodiversity or social isolation.
Alongside our community provision, we also offer British Sign Language (BSL) training and continue to support inclusion and accessibility within the local community.
Everything we do is centred around supporting our community and helping make West Cumbria a more connected, supportive and positive place for everyone.
“Louise, I thought you’d like to know that thanks to the basic sign language skills I learned from you and a bit I already had that I was able to jumble through a conversation in the ambulance with a deaf, mute patient. I was able to explain using signs and the alphabet as well as gain vital medical information. Thank you all so much! I can’t wait to find the right time to book onto the accredited course.”
“I took the Basic Introduction into BSL as I found it interesting and wanted to learn more. Hazel and Louise put everyone at ease in class, and we all worked at a pace to suit us individually. Lots of key areas were taught from colours, animals, clothes, foods and by the end of the course we could put together a full descriptive conversation in BSL of the subjects we learnt”
“An excellently run training course, would definitely recommend.”
“Enjoyed the Basic Sign Language lessons. Friendly and enjoyable, thank you.”
